Once upon a time, yours truly, an adventurous soul, found herself tangled in the troublesome depths of addiction. But guess what? Although I was close,  I never gave up on myself! While in prison I did some soul searching, dealt with some buried emotions, and made a decision to change. Let me tell you, that shit wasn’t easy but those feelings became my guiding light, leading me towards a brighter future.
With each passing lonesome day, I learned to replace the fleeting allure of substances with true joy that came from within. Like a magician’s wand, I even unveiled a spell to vanquish cravings, leaving behind only my determined spirit. Armed with newfound knowledge, I slowly but surely broke free from the clutches of addiction.

This journey was no cakewalk though, my friends. There were moments when doubt crept in like sneaky goblins, tempting me to stray from my path. However, the power of resilience, self-belief, and a community that had my back saw me through even the darkest days.

Tonight, as the clock strikes midnight and a new decade begins, I lool forward to waking up surrounded by my loved ones. Their presence fills my soul with warmth and love. Looking back at the trials I’ve overcome and the victories I’ve achieved, tears of gratitude well up in my eyes. I pause, take a deep breath, and share my story. I remind each person listening that hope resides within us all, no matter how deep the darkness may be.

So, my dear friends, join me in raising a glass and toasting to this incredible journey. Here’s to embracing life without the need for drugs or alcohol, to resilience, self-discovery, and finding strength in our communities. Let us continue painting this world with colors brighter than any spell can ever conjure.
